How to Play Shogun Shadows
A guide to the game of honor and deceit.

The Goal

Shogun Shadows is a social deduction game where loyal Samurai try to complete their tasks while a rogue Ninja attempts to eliminate them.

The Samurai

As a Samurai, your goal is to maintain order by completing all assigned tasks before the Ninja can eliminate your allies.

  • Complete Tasks: Work together to fill the task bar to 100% to win the game.
  • Challenge Suspects: If you believe you have found the Ninja, you can challenge them to a duel. Be warned, a false accusation can have deadly consequences.

The Ninja

As the Ninja, your goal is to eliminate the Samurai until their numbers are too few to fight back. Deception is your greatest weapon.

  • Assassinate: Eliminate unsuspecting Samurai who stray from the group. This ability has a cooldown.
  • Sabotage: Cause chaos and confusion to slow down the Samurai.
  • Blend In: Pretend to do tasks and gain the trust of others to avoid suspicion.

The Challenge Duel

When a player is challenged, they are transported to a dojo for a duel. The outcome is determined by the choices of both the challenger and the challenged, who must each secretly choose to Attack or Retreat.

Duel Outcomes: Samurai vs. Ninja
  • Samurai Attacks & Ninja Attacks: The Samurai wins the game by exposing and defeating the Ninja.
  • Samurai Retreats & Ninja Attacks: The Samurai is eliminated. The game continues.
  • Both Retreat: Both players survive. The game continues.
Duel Outcomes: Samurai vs. Samurai
  • One Attacks & one Retreats: The attacker eliminates the one who retreated. The game continues.
  • Both Attack: Both Samurai are eliminated from dishonor. The game continues.
  • Both Retreat: Both players survive. The game continues.
